The Fisherman’s Month of Activities will climax next Monday 5th June, with the National Fisherman’s Day activity, to be held at the Calliaqua Playing Field. The activities are being held under the theme: "Save SVG’s Sea Turtle, One Turtle at a Time".
Mrs. Jennifer Cruickshank-Howard, Chief Fisheries Officer, said that during this week the Goodwill Fisher Folk Organisation of Rose Place, will host a series of activities as part of Fisherman’s Month.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is currently participating in a regional Program aimed at coral reef protection, dubbed, the Atlantic and Gulf Rapid Reef Assessment or (AGRRA), Program.
The Forestry Department in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Rural Transformation, said that there were three reported cases of river poisoning over the Easter weekend.
Mr. Bradford Latham, Forestry Officer with responsibility for Law Compliance, said that two of these cases, which occurred in Marriaqua and in Georgetown, were deemed accidental.
