The Windward Islands Farmers Association (WINFA), has called on local farmers to play an active role in protecting the environment.

This appeal was made by Co-ordinator of WINFA, Mrs. Kozel Fraser, during a workshop earlier this week.

Mrs. Fraser said that following the three-week program, they will be conducting assessments to see how well the local farmers are putting what they learnt into practice to ensure sustainable soil and environmental management.

She also said that the project is one of their key programs for building the resilience of the agricultural sector, while ensuring adaptation to climate change.
