Climate is Changing. Food and Agriculture Must Too,” is the theme for this year’s World Food Day.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines will join the global community in observing World Food Day 2016 on Sunday, 16th October.

Senior Forestry Supervisor, Mr. Cornelius Richards believes that by strengthening the resilience of smallholder farmers, it is possible to guarantee food security for the global population and also reduce emissions.

He said that the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), is calling on countries to address food and agriculture in their climate action plans and invest more in rural development.

The next UN Climate Change Conference, COP 22, will be held from 7th - 18th November in Marrakech, Morocco.
