The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, and Rural Transformation, through the Banana Accompanying Measures (BAM), program, has initiated a major irrigation project at Langley Park.

Mr. Leroy Jackson, Agricultural Instructor in the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the Langley Park Irrigation Project comes in response to concerns about the impact of the dry season on the local agricultural sector.

Mr. Jackson said that  irrigation plays a vital role in ensuring sustained food production in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Ministry is taking steps to protect local plant species through a Germplasm conservation project.
