Close to fifty shade houses will be distributed to youth across Sant Vincent and the Grenadines over the next two years.

Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar says this is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize agriculture and build resilience in food production.

Minister Caesar explained that the initiative is designed to support young farmers who currently depend solely on open-field cultivation by introducing them to more advanced, resilient methods of production.

"It is in this context that I speak of the close to fifty (50) Shade Houses that will be distributed over the next two (2) years to the youth of our country so that persons who hither to depended primarily solely on open field cultivation, they can have a more advanced form of production. And all of this is coming within the framework that we are seeing an exponential increase in the hospitality industry and there is a need for us to continue to work on reducing the food import bill in our country."
