On Tuesday, September 9th, 2025, at the ECTAD Packing Plant at Greiggs, CARDI, in collaboration with ECTAD and COLEAD conducted a demonstration with the objective of substituting two (2) biological fungicides, namely, Lime Sulphur and Serenade in place of Ridomil.

According to CARDI’s Representative to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Danowa Jackson, Ridomil is a banned substance in the European Union in general and France in particular, which is one of our European markets for dasheen.

Jackson asserts that after one month of scientific trials, the two substitutes have proved to be effective in preserving dasheen on its journey to the United Kingdom.

The objective of the exercise at Greiggs was to prepare a pilot shipment to England. Mr. Jackson expressed confidence that the shipment would be successful.
