Minister of Tourism, Dr. the Hon. Kishore Shallow has welcomed the signing of a Data Protection Agreement as part of a new initiative aimed at providing significant benefits for Vincentian farmers.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday, September 14, Dr. Shallow said the agreement opens important new opportunities for the country.
He noted: "It is important that we identify ways and opportunities how we can ensure that it is realized, and of course boosting our agriculture sector is one of those leading ways we can accomplish such. And there are of course other ways that are not just about produce being in hotels and restaurants and so on, that's very obvious, and we have enjoyed that to an extent but nothing close to our true potential. And that is where Minister Bruce and his entire technical team and ministry, what they have been working on extremely hard over the last few months, to see how we can move that needle in a relatively quick time. But there is also the opportunity for an agricultural system that forms part of the destination experience and brand for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and links specifically to our tourism product."
Monday’s news conference was hosted jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation and the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development.
